Agreement to these Terms

These Terms apply when you access or use ReturnTally. By using ReturnTally, creating an account, connecting a store, or authorizing ReturnTally for a Shopify store, you agree to these Terms.

If you use ReturnTally for a company, store, or other business, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these Terms for that business.

What ReturnTally provides

ReturnTally is a return reporting product for Shopify stores. It connects to approved store data, reads return and payment signals, and produces reports, dashboards, exports, alerts, and summaries that explain return outcomes.

ReturnTally may show statuses such as:

  • Money returned to the customer.
  • New item sent.
  • Money kept for the customer's next order.
  • Return still open.
  • Return needs checking.
In simple words

ReturnTally turns Shopify return data into clear reporting for store owners, operations teams, accounts teams, and CAs.

Accounts and authority

Users must provide accurate account information and keep login details secure. Store admins are responsible for deciding which team members can access ReturnTally and what permissions they should have.

If you connect a Shopify store or another service, you confirm that you have the authority to grant ReturnTally access to that data.

Data permissions and privacy

To provide the service, ReturnTally needs access to store data such as returns, orders, payment status, product details, fulfillment details, tags, and notes. The exact data depends on the features a store uses and the permissions the store grants.

Data handling, customer personal details, retention, deletion, and user rights are covered in the Privacy Policy.

Reports and accuracy

ReturnTally is designed to make return data easier to understand. Reports depend on the quality, timing, structure, and completeness of the data available from Shopify and connected services.

Store teams should review reports before using them for customer communication, accounting, tax, operational, or financial decisions. If a row is unclear, ReturnTally may mark it as "needs checking" instead of guessing.

No accounting, tax, or legal advice

ReturnTally provides operational return reporting. It does not provide accounting, tax, legal, audit, or financial advice. Your accounts team, CA, lawyer, or other professional adviser should decide how to use the information for official records.

Fees, plans, and payment

Some ReturnTally features may be free, trial-based, or paid. Paid plans, billing periods, renewal terms, usage limits, and taxes will be shown in the product, checkout, order form, or invoice.

Unless the plan or order form says otherwise, subscriptions may renew automatically until cancelled. Stores are responsible for paying applicable fees and taxes on time.

Acceptable use

Users must not use ReturnTally to:

  • Break the law or violate another person's rights.
  • Access a store or data without permission.
  • Upload malicious code or interfere with the service.
  • Reverse engineer, copy, resell, or misuse the product except where law allows it.
  • Use ReturnTally to build a competing product using non-public product information.
  • Remove security controls, rate limits, or access restrictions.

Third-party services

ReturnTally works with Shopify and may work with other connected services. Those services are not controlled by ReturnTally and have their own terms, privacy policies, permissions, uptime, and data rules.

Shopify is a third-party platform. ReturnTally is not owned by, endorsed by, or part of Shopify unless expressly stated.

Availability and changes

We work to keep ReturnTally reliable, but the service may be unavailable during maintenance, updates, outages, incidents, or issues with third-party services. We may add, change, limit, or remove features as the product improves.

Ownership

ReturnTally owns the product, design, software, workflows, reports layout, documentation, and brand materials, except for content and data owned by stores or third parties.

ReturnTally™ and the ReturnTally logo are trademarks of ReturnTally. These Terms do not give stores or users permission to copy or use the ReturnTally name, logo, or brand assets without written permission.

Stores keep ownership of their store data. By using ReturnTally, stores give us permission to process that data to provide, secure, support, and improve the service.

Confidentiality

Each side may receive non-public information from the other. The receiving side must use reasonable care to protect that information and use it only for the purpose of providing or using ReturnTally.

Cancellation and termination

A store may stop using ReturnTally or disconnect connected services. We may suspend or terminate access if a user violates these Terms, creates security risk, fails to pay fees, or uses the service in a harmful or unlawful way.

After termination, some data may be retained or deleted as explained in the Privacy Policy and as required by law, billing, security, or dispute needs.

Disclaimers

ReturnTally is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the extent allowed by law. We do not promise that every report will be error-free, that every third-party integration will work at all times, or that the service will meet every store's specific accounting or operational requirement.

Limits of liability

To the extent allowed by law, ReturnTally will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or lost profit damages. ReturnTally's total liability for claims related to the service will be limited to the amount paid by the store for ReturnTally in the three months before the claim, or 100 USD if no amount was paid.

Some laws do not allow certain limits, so these limits apply only where legally permitted.

Store responsibility for claims

If a claim arises because a store used ReturnTally unlawfully, connected data without permission, violated these Terms, or misused reports, the store is responsible for the claim and any reasonable costs caused by it, to the extent allowed by law.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law stated in the applicable order form, invoice, or written agreement. If no governing law is stated there, the governing law and dispute venue will be decided by the ReturnTally legal entity that provides the service, subject to applicable law.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as ReturnTally changes. If a change is important, we will take reasonable steps to notify users through the product, email, or this page. Continued use of ReturnTally after the updated Terms take effect means the updated Terms apply.
